The process of depositing metals layers developed by Kolzer, is a plating method originally intended for metals, and today extended to all kind of substrates: plastic, glass, wood, metals, rapid prototyping etc. The process can be virtually applied to any components that need a layer of metal.
A significant advantage is that the coating, formed by a metallic material (or mix of metals) applied to plastic parts, provides a structural coating with aesthetic effect.
Finishing of plastic substrates has always been limited by the existing traditional technologies, but Kolzer process can drastically improve these limitations, and in some cases eliminate them.
By applying the process on specific parts, it’s possible to obtain improvements of the mechanical properties, of the finishing strength, scratching test, resistance to rupture of the film and perfect stability of ageing test.
Other advantages that the process offers to coated plastic substrates, are the resistance to light, temperature, humidity and corrosion, allowing the coated components to be used in more aggressive and corrosive environments, where it was not possible with the original plastic.
